For my first video project, I had to produce a short movie with my class of 9 students. We were able to work in two groups, so my group took care of producing the first part of the movie. The aim was to work together to produce a material on which we could practice our editing skills.
Produce scenario and define the roles
Ensure the right framing
Edite a movie
We worked pretty fast, there were a lot of us and at the same time we hadn't yet worked out the narrative. So the aim was to create a small production file with the storyboard and the definition of everyone's roles.
During this project, we got a firsthand look at how a shoot comes together, which was both eye-opening and exciting. As the cameraman, I was responsible for framing. It was interesting to see how everything was set up behind the scenes. This experience gave us a better understanding of how teamwork plays out during a shoot and helped us learn the ropes of filmmaking in a practical way
Going through the footage, I found myself confronted with the imperfections and challenges we encountered during the shoot. Despite the initial obstacles, going through these moments of imperfection ultimately sharpened our skills and deepened our understanding of the filmmaking process. It was a rewarding voyage of discovery, where every mistake served as a springboard for improvement.
